NSW Coronavirus Update: “To 8pm last night we had 136 cases of local transmission, and unfortunately 53 of those cases were infectious in the community” – NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

The coronavirus situation in the state is now being “regarded as a national emergency.”

“Regrettably we did have an additional death overnight which I have only just learned about. And will provide more information during the day once we are confident that family members have been advise”.

“I have requested that we urgently focus on redirecting all of vaccine initiatives to south-western Sydney and Western Sydney, particularly the affected local government areas” – NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant.

“Due to the emergence of further cases of community transmission in Sydneys west and south-west, people living the Cumberland and Blacktown Local Government Areas (LGAs) will only be allowed to leave their LGA if they are an authorised worker” – NSW Health statement.

Surveillance testing every 72 hours applies to all authorised workers who live in the Fairfield City Council area and, starting from midnight tonight, health and aged care workers who live in the Canterbury Bankstown LGA.
