Coronavirus: Can you trust the contact tracing app in your phone? - BBC News

The organisation in charge of Norway’s coronavirus contact tracing app has announced they have stopped all collection of data through their “Smittestopp” app. They also say they have erased all data gathered so far.
It follows an investigation by Amnesty International’s Security Lab that identified coronavirus contact tracing apps in Kuwait, Bahrain and Norway as putting the privacy and security of their users at risk.
BBC News Arabic has been investigating, why? And what the surveillance advances made now into our lives for the sake of our health may mean for our privacy in the future.

Since publication of this video the Bahrain government wrote the BBC to say the BeAware app “is an entirely voluntary opt-in app…and all users are informed of its use of GPS software before downloading.”
They emphasised that “the 'BeAware' app was designed for the sole purpose of advancing contact tracing efforts and saving lives.”
