Data shows that indigenous tribes are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. The pandemic has paralyzed Amazon protection efforts, which may have contributed to the increased deforestation.
Last year, huge wildfires devastated huge parts of the rainforest. The Amazon is the world's largest tropical rainforest. Its preservation is vital to curb global warming.
